In 2023, Face Off Guyana proved that untapped creative talent beats in the blood of the Caribbean. We showed that this creative beat requires more platforms to dazzle and shine.

Meet the Judges

Esther Hamer

Esther Hamer is an artist, costume designer, dancer and entrepreneur who found her way to special effects makeup artistry for the last 7 years, complete with a certificate from the National School of Theatre arts and Drama.

She has contributed to the performative arts in Guyana for 15 years, through dance, choreography, costume design and production. She looks for ingenuity, background stories, technique and creativity.

Esther was our in-person judge on April 1st 2023 and provided meaningful insight into the work being done by the contestants. We are very grateful to have her as one of our judges.

Giovanna Flugel

Giovanna Flügel is a Brazilian-based designer and creative director who has made significant contributions to the advertising industry over the past 16 years. She has worked with multiple well-known brands, such as La Roche-Posay, and major Brazilian brands.

Although her career has been focused on graphic design and advertising, Giovanna has always tried to keep herself busy with creative and artistic projects. Illustration and drawing using digital and physical techniques are one of her favorite things to do.

Inspiration comes from all places possible, such as movies, art galleries, and even random billboards or book covers. To Giovanna, everything can be inspiring depending on the way you look at things.

Osama Iqbal

Osama Iqbal is a Pakistan-based photographer and documentary filmmaker who has made significant contributions to the media industry over the past 05 years. He has worked with multiple well-known brands, such as ITGS group, Jhonum, Ray pharma & many local or international clients .

Although his career has been focused on photography, Osama has always tried to keep himself busy with creative and artistic projects. Portraying stranger’s lifestyle through photograph or film are one of his favorite things to do.

Leslie St.John

Leslie St. John is a Barbadian photographer. Starting photography as a teenager, he decided to get a “real job” and went on to pursue a career in Marketing and Advertising. Having worked in several industries he never forgot his love for the craft and art of photography. Eventually after growing tired of having no answer to the question why he was not a professional photographer, he took the decision to follow his true calling and become one.

Leslie has won multiple awards at the Barbados National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) including the coveted Perce Tappin Award for Best in Show in 1987. He has had the privilege photographing HRH Princess Margaret on one of her visits to Barbados and of having one of his photographs reproduced on a postage stamp for the island of Grenada. And has had his work appear in several magazines including the UK’s prestigious OK! Celebrity News.

He has been a full time professional for 14 years, maintaining a commercial photography practice with specialties in wedding and buildings for a range of clients.

His influences range from Henri Cartier Bresson who advocated capturing the “decisive moment” to noted landscape photographer Ansel Adams.

Machel Witter

Machel Witter is a Jamaican award winning photographer and social media strategist. He has operated under his brand for over 7 years working with a wide variety of individuals and corporate clients.

He has worked extensively as a Shutterstock listed photographer for the past four years, and has mastered the art of commercial, maternity, event and food photography.

Some of his major clients have included: Digicel Jamaica, Spartan Health Club, Develop Digitally, Blueprint Consulting and Gustavos . com. 

Currently, he’s the official photographer for Jamaica’s Netball Team, “The Sunshine Girls.”

He was also the official photographer for the Miss Jamaica World Pageant in 2017.

Darrick Foster

Darrick Foster is a Jamaican photographer and videographer. He has been a full time professional for 11 years, offering 360 media services to regional and international clients. He was the official photographer for Miss Jamaica Universe for the past two years and has consistently been a key photographer for the Jamaica Carnival scene.
